Outside general counsel for growing and regulated businesses

Liva Law LLC is a New Jersey practice providing outside general counsel to growing and regulated businesses, based in Woodcliff Lake and working with companies throughout Bergen County and the rest of the state.

My background spans 20 years across law, regulatory compliance, risk management, and business operations. I have worked within a major global bank and served in general counsel and senior management roles at smaller financial services and technology companies.

As general counsel, I advised management on commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory matters, employment issues, litigation, and day-to-day business decisions. I drafted and negotiated customer, vendor, technology, licensing, confidentiality, trading, and other commercial agreements. I also managed litigation and disputes and coordinated with regulators, outside counsel, auditors, and other professional advisers.

I have advised institutional trading venues, algorithmic trading businesses, financial technology companies, and other growing businesses. My work included structuring products and commercial relationships, obtaining regulatory registrations and licenses, developing compliance programs, and translating legal and regulatory requirements into practical business processes.

At Barclays, I held senior roles involving wholesale client onboarding, financial crimes policies and procedures, and operational risk reporting and governance. I also helped establish and operate financial services businesses regulated in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

This combination of legal, compliance, and operational experience allows me to provide more than a legal answer. I identify the real risk, explain the available options clearly, and help implement a solution that works for the business.
